Your privacy choices
Optional measurement helps us find out whether Moon makes news easier to understand. It records story views, time the summary is visible, evidence and source clicks, saves and sharing actions. Story choices can reveal sensitive interests.
We use this to evaluate Moon, not to build advertising profiles or automatically personalise your feed. Your chosen region, followed topics, sign-in and saves work without measurement.
What is stored, and for how long?
For guests, a first-party browser cookie holds a random identifier. Signed-in activity belongs to your account. Earlier guest activity is kept separate, including when you sign in. The guest cookie can remain after you turn measurement off so you can clear that browser’s history.
Your choice lasts 90 days. Usage events are removed by a daily job once they are over 90 days old. The consent record stores the choice, notice version and time; expired records are kept for up to another 90 days. Clearing usage stops measurement and deletes its event history; it keeps the consent record.
Moon stores this data with Supabase in Oregon, United States. Measurement does not record search text, precise location, IP addresses or a device fingerprint. Hosting and sign-in services may separately process technical connection information to operate the service.
Clearing browser cookies loses access to earlier guest history, which will still expire. Account history can be cleared after signing in. Reader feedback and your deliberately saved stories are separate from usage history.
